Brisbane, Australia July 14, 2015 – Megaport, a leading software based elastic interconnection provider, announces expansion locations, headquarters and investment to the North American market.
Megaport has announced extensive detail into the additional global expansion to the North American market including a US headquarters in San Francisco and a total $10m spend over the next 12 months due to the growing demand for scalable cloud interconnectivity services, global partnerships and accelerated success in Asia.
The US expansion includes markets such as Seattle, Los Angeles, New York, Bay Area, Ashburn, Chicago and Dallas. All sites to be completed by the end of 2015 with the first market, Seattle, coming online in September. The company expects to recover operating expenses within the first twelve months.
“Enterprise customers are demanding a better model for accessing cloud computing through network services and are looking for solutions that adapt and evolve with their business,” said Brynn Maddux, EVP of Americas & Europe for Megaport. “The Megaport platform gives customers greater flexibility through better commercial terms and instant provisioning capabilities into the cloud, along with access to new data centers and services globally as we continue our expansion. Ultimately we help our customers optimize their network and data center investment through our global services interconnection fabric.”
Before joining Megaport, Brynn Maddux executed strategy and deployments globally for Microsoft and was instrumental in extending Microsoft’s global network into markets like India, South America, eastern Europe, and Australia. Brynn has spent over ten years in telecommunications industry in senior leadership positions focused on business and sales strategy development, global strategic partnerships, and product management.
Shortly after launching in Australia, Megaport expanded market coverage into New Zealand, Singapore and Hong Kong due to high demand through global partnerships and a requirement for change to the connectivity landscape. Megaport has leveraged the global relationships and success they have formed in the Asia Pacific region for the US launch, with major cloud and content players joining the fabric in every mutual market.
Megaport was founded in 2013 by Bevan Slattery, one of Australia’s most successful telecommunications entrepreneurs, to create a new paradigm for networks and cloud to interconnect. Originally launched in Australia as the world’s first SDN based elastic connectivity platform, Megaport now provides on demand services to over 200 network, content, and cloud services providers and has since expanded into New Zealand, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Megaport will be launched in the United States in 2015 and will continue its global expansion into Europe by 2016.
