Sprint in a statistical tie for #1 overall network performance in KC but only Sprint offers Cut Your Bill in Half
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (BUSINESS WIRE), June 18, 2015 – Sprint finished in a statistical tie for first place as the top ranked overall wireless network in Kansas City, according to independent mobile analytics firm RootMetrics®. The new analysis shows Sprint in a dead heat for #1 in overall wireless network performance.
This is the first time since August, 2011 that Sprint has had a shared win for overall network performance in Kansas City. This testing marks the eighth time RootMetrics tested Kansas City, with the last test coming in October, 2014.
“Kansas City deserves a great network – the best network – and we are proud that we are delivering it,” said Marcelo Claure, CEO at Sprint. “Our customers are everything to us and we’ve worked hard to deliver on our goal to have the best wireless network in our hometown. There’s never been a better time to join Sprint and support the home team.”
Sprint #1 Network in Kansas City
Sprint’s median download speed in RootMetrics’ testing increased by 62 percent since last October’s testing. RootMetrics drove a total of 1,150 miles and conducted more than 26,000 tests in Kansas City. As for call quality? Sprint recorded zero blocked calls during the testing period.
Sprint has relentlessly focused on building and fine-tuning the network in Kansas City. The company added hundreds of new 2.5GHz cell sites, and expanded its 1.9GHz and 800MHz 4G LTE coverage. Sprint’s network teams systematically optimized each cell site to maximize overall performance, coverage, capacity and speed.
Of particular focus, Sprint improved the customer’s experience at high traffic areas such as Kauffman Stadium, Arrowhead Stadium, Sporting Park, and the Sprint Center. These venues received either new or completely upgraded wireless systems.
“Wireless connectivity is a key driver of economic and civic progress,” said Dr. John Saw, Sprint’s Chief Network Officer. “We’re pleased to give Kansas City a great network, one that fully enables entertainment, communication and collaboration across the city, our workplaces and our homes.”
But what about Sprint’s network across the nation? That’s also getting better every day. According to RootMetrics, in 111 markets measured in the first half of 2015, Sprint has been awarded a total of 156 first place (outright or shared) RootScore® Awards for overall, reliability, speed, data, call, or text network performance.1 Those numbers sound even more impressive when compared to last year’s results. In these same 111 markets, Sprint achieved 21 first-place award wins back in the first half of 2014.
