BLOG: Sprint Ties for #1 in Indianapolis

Sprint’s Indy network receives shared 1st place win in overall network performance

By Kevin Gleason, Region VP– SE, Sprint

For the past 21 years, I have had the pleasure of working in the wireless industry in Indianapolis – but I‘ve never been more proud of an accomplishment than I am today: Sprint tied for #1 in overall network performance!

According to a new RootScore® Report by independent mobile analytics firm RootMetrics®,  our network in Indianapolis (proudly called “home” by approximately 200 Sprint employees), is tied for #1 in overall performance, reliability, call and text performance. Our network has been steadily improving over the past year, but this is the first time we’ve received a shared win for overall network performance in Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Sprint customers can feel great knowing they’re receiving premium wireless service in our city. Our network team has done incredible work to achieve this level of performance, and I’m so happy for customers, employees and the community, who will all feel the benefits.

Wireless networks drive economic and civic progress, fostering a vibrant community that’s collaborative and constantly connected. This is why it’s great to see such strong wireless competition in Indianapolis.

Getting to #1 (and Staying There)
Our results in Indianapolis are a good example of how we’re improving the network by fully utilizing all of our spectrum assets. In the past year our local engineers added hundreds of new 2.5GHz cell sites, and expanded our 1.9GHz and 800MHz LTE coverage. Teams then systematically optimized each cell site to maximize performance, coverage and capacity. In addition, our engineers worked hard to provide a better customer experience in public venues with upgraded systems in places such as Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indiana Convention Center. We also brought in additional capacity to support the Indianapolis 500, and soon we’ll do the same to support the Indiana State Fair.

Expect to see Sprint continue to improve in Indianapolis as we increase coverage and capacity, densifying the network with the addition of more cell sites across all of our spectrum bands. We’ll also continue rolling out some of the most advanced technologies in wireless – carrier aggregation for higher speeds, 8T8R radios for enhanced coverage, and multi-antenna processing techniques like MIMO for higher capacity aimed at further unlocking the potential of our network.

Cutting Your Bill in Half
For my neighbors that might be considering making a move to Sprint, there’s never been a better time to give us a try. With our “Cut Your Bill in Half Event”, current Verizon and AT&T customers just need to bring their wireless bill and old phones to Sprint, and we’ll cut their monthly rate plan in half.2 Yes…in half. It’s never been easier to switch to Sprint!

We’re proud and energized by these latest results, and you can be sure that our network and sales team will keep working hard to deliver a great experience.
