High-speed WAN connects 15 school district sites
Colorado Springs, CO (April 9, 2015) – Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 located in Fountain, CO recently implemented a new fiber-optic wide area network (WAN). The high-speed fiber-optic network connected fifteen district facilities, including five connections on the Fort Carson Army base, providing speeds capable of 10 Gbps or more.
The network was funded in part by the Federal E-Rate fund which provides discounts of up to 90 percent to help eligible schools and libraries in the United States obtain affordable telecommunications and internet access. UPN has been very successful in cooperating with school districts so they can take advantage of their E-rate funding to help build and fund their networks.
“Unite Private Networks offers an optimal design that utilizes, at a minimum, a one Gigabit connection to all facilities via home run fiber from every location back to the hub site,” said Randy Wright, Director of Education Sales at Unite Private Networks. “There is no sharing of bandwidth and no network congestion among district locations. Our state-of-the-art solution allows the district dedicated bandwidth and unlimited future growth potential.”
“The vision of Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 is to prepare students, Preschool to Post Secondary, with the most advanced math, science, technology and life-skills taught by the highest quality staff,” said Cheryl Serrano, Superintendent of the Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8. “We know our new fiber-optic network will allow us to further educate our children in a technology driven world, ultimately helping us achieve our vison for all students.”
“We are excited to announce the completion of the Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 network, and to continue our Colorado expansion,” said Jason W. Adkins, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at UPN. “The new high-speed wide area network will provide a significant increase in bandwidth capacity available to the District, enabling students and faculty to have access to a secure and robust fiber-optic network for years to come.”
