John Jones named SVP of Public Policy and Government Relations

WASHINGTON, April 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE:CTL, news, filings) announced today that John F. Jones has been named CenturyLink’s senior vice president of public policy and government relations effective immediately. He succeeds Steve Davis, who is retiring.

Jones previously served as CenturyLink’s vice president of public policy and federal legislative affairs. During his 21-year tenure with the company, his responsibilities have included leading state and federal regulatory and legislative initiatives, government relations activities, external communication and policy development, state and local economic development issues, and representing the company in industry discussions and negotiations.

The public policy and government relations organization is responsible for representing CenturyLink’s public policy positions to federal, state and local policy makers and regulatory commissions, including the Federal Communications Commission, Congress and other government agencies and industry groups.

He is a past president and member of the executive board of the Independent Telephone and Telecommunications Alliance and has served on the Legislative Tactics and Regulatory Affairs Committees of USTelecom.

Jones serves on the board of directors and the executive committee, and chairs the Technology Council for the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry.  He also serves on the boards of the Council for A Better Louisiana, the Louisiana Telecom Association, the Governor’s Workforce Investment Council and is a past board member of the Public Affairs Research Council.

Jones received both his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in communication from the University of Louisiana at Monroe(ULM). Prior to joining CenturyLink, he served as public affairs director and adjunct communications faculty member at ULM for 12 years.
