CHAD KISSINGER ANNOUNCED AS A FEATURED SPEAKER AT THE HCCA’S 19TH ANNUAL COMPLIANCE INSTITUTE

AUSTIN, TX – OnRamp, an industry leading high security and hybrid hosting solutions provider with data center locations in Austin, TX and Raleigh, NC, announced today that OnRamp Founder and HIPAA Compliance Expert Chad Kissinger will be a featured speaker at the Health Care Compliance Association’s (HCCA) Compliance Institute, April 19-22 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The 19th Annual Compliance Institute will bring together more than 2,000 health care compliance professionals for 148 sessions, 254 speakers and 10 educational tracks spanning privacy, security and compliance related topics.

Kissinger’s presentation, titled: “HIPAA in the Cloud: How to Effectively Collaborate with Cloud Providers” will take place Wednesday, April 22nd from 10-11:45am as part of the General Compliance/Hot Topics Track. Speaking from his more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry and leadership in the development of OnRamp’s HIPAA compliant private cloud solutions, Kissinger will provide his perspective on the issues associated with outsourcing the storage of critical healthcare data to cloud providers.

“In a physical IT environment, the key components of a compute infrastructure are easily identified and the safety of the data stored within the environment can easily be determined,” stated Kissinger. “In a cloud infrastructure, the location of these components, whether they are properly configured and whether they even exist, is not always clear. Thus, for health care organizations, the flexibility offered by the cloud comes with compliance concerns and emphasizes the need to trust your provider with your sensitive data.” In this presentation, Kissinger will discuss the intricacies of negotiating and doing business with cloud providers in a manner that ensure auditable HIPAA compliance.

At this year’s Compliance Institute conference, attendees will hear from leaders in business, government enforcement, ethics, and cyber security which include:

  • James Trainor, Deputy Assistant Director, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Cyber Operations Section
  • Daniel R. Levinson, Inspector General, Office of Inspector General, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS),
  • Professor Marianne M. Jennings, an emeritus professor of legal and ethical studies in business from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, who retired in 2011 after 35 years of teaching there, and
  • Michael Woodford, a former CEO and a whistleblower

In addition to Kissinger’s participation as a featured speaker for the HCCA’s Compliance Institute, he and several members of the OnRamp team will be showcasing OnRamp’s HIPAA Compliant Hosting Solutions from Booth #601. Going far beyond what’s typical of most cloud storage providers, OnRamp has developed a 3-Step HIPAA Risk Management Tool to further assist customers in their efforts to meet and maintain compliance. Through this process OnRamp helps to evaluate the risk associated with a healthcare customers’ environment housed in one of the company’s three state-of-the-art facilities. The resulting documentation, which includes a summary report, system diagram and customized BAA forms a basis for OnRamp’s customers’ compliance efforts.
