Birch Continues to Boost Metro-Fiber Services in Key Markets

Atlanta – April 20, 2015 – Birch Communications, Inc., (“Birch”) a leading technology service provider of IP-based communications, broadband, cloud and IT-services to small, mid-sized, enterprise and wholesale businesses, announced today ongoing geographic expansion of Metro-Fiber services in its Dallas, TX, Houston, TX, Denver, CO and Los Angeles, CA markets.  Birch now serves an additional 46 buildings in these four major markets which brings its total to 686 buildings nationwide, reaching more than 20,000 businesses and offering customers access to high-speed internet and the company’s full portfolio of high quality, cost-effective, scalable communications and IT services.

In Dallas, TX, Birch now delivers its high-performance Metro-Fiber network to an additional 17 buildings on a brand-new, dedicated 209 mile dark fiber ring, expanding the footprint to over 150 buildings in the region.  The Dallas-Fort Worth area has long been a major Internet and network exchange point and Birch has continued to organically grow its network assets there.  As the fourth most populous metropolitan area in the United States, with over 10,000 business locations and 21 Fortune 500 corporate headquarters, it is a perfect fit for this large-scale network expansion.

Birch is also filling a void for network services to support bandwidth-intensive demands among businesses in Los Angeles, CA.  Metro-Fiber service is currently being expanded in Los Angeles, CA to light an additional 22 buildings.  The company continues to analyze and implement new market opportunities in Tier 1 and 2 markets in large, multi-tenant buildings and facilities in 2015.

“Birch is aggressively investing in expanding Metro-Fiber in several key markets precisely because there is already high customer demand for our services in those locations.  Bandwidth consumption is on the rise and with our extensive, premier Metro-Fiber network customers can access superfast connections with speeds up to 500Mbps to meet their growing business needs.  Our high capacity, low latency network is exactly what our customers need to maintain their competitive edge,” said Christopher Ramsey, Senior Vice President and Chief Sales Officer at Birch.

Deploying additional Metro-Fiber assets continues to be a major part of Birch’s overall growth strategy for 2015.  “When customers have access to a faster network, they are able to accelerate business development and therefore opportunities for innovation, expansion and e-commerce.  The benefits of Birch’s exclusive Metro-Fiber network are more valuable now than ever before,” said David Gibson, Vice President of Business Development at Birch.  “Expanding our network presence enables Birch to offer services that address all of a customer’s connectivity needs – voice, data and the Cloud.”

Birch’s IP and Metro-Fiber network has been built and operated by the company for nearly 20 years.  With its robust physical network reach, comprised of more than 31,000 fiber route miles in 22 markets across the nation, Birch is able to offer high-speed, high-quality voice, data, and cloud services that ensure reliable connectivity and provide award-winning customer service to its over 200,000 customers. Birch plans to serve more than 800 lit buildings nationwide this year.
