Telecom carriers and Texas businesses to benefit from latest fiber expansion now reaching over 6,000 Near-Net buildings
HOUSTON, TX – April 13, 2015 – Alpheus Communications today announced the second phase of fiber expansion in Dallas, Houston and Austin, extending the existing fiber network to an additional 3,000 buildings; bringing the total near-net building count to just over 6,000. With this expansion, the Alpheus fiber network would reach more than 40,000 businesses in these fast growing business markets. The latest expansion includes downtown Austin, with the addition of over 1,800 near-net buildings in the central business district.
Alpheus’ fiber expansion project, which was announced last June, leverages its fiber-connected network of over 300 points-of-presence (POPs) and central offices (COs) to quickly connect to end-user business locations. Alpheus’ POPs and COs are built as aggregation points from which Alpheus can extend its fiber efficiently. The broad coverage of the Alpheus network enables the company to stay in close proximity to a large number of businesses, delivering faster, more reliable fiber connections.
“Fiber networks are increasingly sought out by businesses because they provide superior quality and incredibly high bandwidth options,” said Alpheus CEO Scott Widham. “With this expansion project, we are investing to provide Texas businesses the network infrastructure they need for their Internet, voice, video and cloud solutions now and in the future.” Widham added, “Initially, we focused on Houston and Dallas, now we are adding the Austin market based on demand. We look forward to continuing our expansion and bringing high-speed fiber access to more Texas businesses.”
