From southern Mexico to Panama and throughout Colombia, the networks provided by Padtec increase the breadth of UFINET’s service offering
Miami, Fla. – March 16, 2015 – Padtec, a global manufacturer and solutions provider of turnkey optical solutions, announces today that UFINET, a carrier of carriers, has expanded its network capability with the deployment of Padtec Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) equipment. UFINET’s international network, spanning more than 13,000 kilometers, connects all countries throughout Central America, from southern Mexico, through Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. In addition, a new network has been deployed in Colombia with extensive coverage in the country.
The equipment provided by Padtec to UFINET is based on OTN transponders, which provide better performance for transparent optical transport. The Reconfigurable Optical Add Drop Multiplexer (ROADM) equipment is also next generation, allowing greater flexibility and capacity to adapt to changing traffic networks.

Padtec has deployed more than 13,000 km of DWDM network to UFINET, which broadens its range of services and the expansion of its business. The network has been designed with plenty of protection mechanisms and with the potential for future expansion by adding more channels. Furthermore, new links are in the design phase and should be illuminated in the coming months to enlarge high capacity footprint.
