Michigan Avenue Flagship Unveils Historical Showcase of Innovation
AT&T’s Flagship store is known for introducing customers to cutting-edge innovations, but a new experience unveiled today is designed to connect customers to the past.
AT&T’s “Journey of Innovation” showcase is a digital, interactive retail exhibit that captures the story of communication, from the original patent for the first telephone to modern mobile technologies. The space was designed and built to celebrate the anniversary of the first telephone call, which was placed by Alexander Graham Bell on March 10th, 1876.
Visitors of the showcase will use modern technology to explore the past, present and future. An AT&T tablet will serve as a virtual tour guide as visitors walk along a digital gallery wall and interact with photo and video content. The stories of the most impactful moments in AT&T’s history are told using augmented reality, factoids and touch-enabled content screens.
Two exhibits designed to help illustrate the journey of innovation contain replicas of historical artifacts, like Thomas Watson’s notes recording the first ever telephone call.
“AT&T has a rich history of innovation and this new showcase captures some of AT&T’s most impactful contributions to society,” said Shelley Goodman, vice president and general manager of AT&T Illinois & Wisconsin. “The Michigan Ave. Flagship store is a place where people learn how technology can improve their lives. This exhibit connects modern technologies to their past, and shows how innovation has improved lives throughout history.”
Visitors are welcome to explore the space at 600 N Michigan Ave. in Chicago on Monday-Friday from 10am-8pm, Saturday from 9am-6pm and Sunday 11am-6pm.
