Atlanta – March 30, 2015 – Birch Communications, Inc., (“Birch”) a leading technology service provider of IP-based communications, broadband, cloud and IT-services to small, mid-sized, enterprise and wholesale businesses, announced today its lead sponsorship of the 2015 Cherry Blossom Road Race that was held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 in Macon, Ga.
Each March, Macon, Ga. becomes a pink, cotton-spun paradise as over 300,000 Yoshino cherry trees bloom in all their glory. For 10 days, festival-lovers are treated to one of the most extravagant displays of springtime color in the nation
This is the company’s tenth consecutive year sponsoring some part of the world-renowned Cherry Blossom Festival and it is the third consecutive year that Birch has been the lead sponsor of the road race with proceeds benefiting developmentally disabled adults who are served by Wesley Glen Ministries.
“We are honored to sponsor an event that supports our community and promotes positive public awareness of the challenges faced by developmentally disabled individuals,” said Vincent M. Oddo, President and CEO of Birch. “Birch continues to grow its staff in the Macon, Ga. area, our original hometown, and we are always looking for ways to serve our community in a positive manner. We are thankful for the opportunity to partner with Wesley Glen Ministries through a collective mission to serve.”
The popular 13th annual road race event features a 1 mile fun run, 5K or 10K road race, as well as a kid’s carnival. This year over 35 Birch employees took part in the road race which had a record overall turnout.
“I’m excited to be involved in such a fun local event that helps to enrich the lives of developmentally disabled individuals,” said Bill Pilcher National Sales Manager at Birch. “I have personally attended the Cherry Blossom Festival for over thirty years and it remains as one of the key events that enhance the quality of life, community fellowship, and civic pride of all Macon and Middle Georgia residents through the encouragement, development, and coordination of selected recreational, cultural, and social activities.”
