A Chicago Success Story: Friendship, Neighborhood Loyalty and the American Dream

Moe Musa and Moe Allan are long-time friends and business partners. They own seven Sprint dealer stores in and around the Chicago area, three in the city and four located in the suburbs. As young men fresh out of college, they opened their first store in 2005 in the 7900 block of Harlem Ave.

Both started out selling Sprint products in larger retailers such as BestBuy, Kmart and Radio Shack. Seeing how popular Sprint products were with customers in Chicago, the ambitious young men knew they had a winner on their hands and took a big leap with that first store.

Today, their company, MSM Connect, is comprised of 45 employees. Musa and Allan take great pride in the diversity of their employees and the customers they serve each day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Their multicultural and neighborhood-centric stores epitomize what makes Chicago great.

Musa and Allen participated in the March 30, Sprint® for Chicago event in the Hyde Park Sprint store where Sprint senior executive Jaime Jones and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel pledged to enhance the city’s economic vitality. The joint effort will bring more than 300 new jobs to neighborhoods throughout Chicago by the end of 2015. It also includes the installation of hundreds of new cell sites and an expected investment of $45 million in its network infrastructure between now and the end of 2016.

Both men said the stores have heavy foot traffic and customers typically go for the latest and greatest devices and accessories, such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and Harman Kardon Onyx Studio speakers. They said the “Cut Your Bill in Half” has been a winner in their stores.

“We’re a melting pot,” Musa said. “And our dedicated employees love serving folks in their neighborhoods, their friends and families. Our stores are in neighborhoods that were previously underserved and we’re proud to offer our services here.”

“I’m very proud to be associated with Sprint,” Allan said. “The company has been a great springboard for our success these past 15 years. We’re just two young men, right out of college, living the American dream!”
