Former Speakeasy Executive Returns as Company Increases Focus on Commercial Cloud Offerings

Pleasanton, Calif. – February 25, 2015MegaPath Corporation, one of the leading providers of voice, data, security and cloud services in North America, today announced that it has named Kurt Hoffman its new President and Chief Executive of its Cloud Services division. Hoffmann replaces Dan Foster, who is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities.

As MegaPath’s President, Hoffman will oversee direct and channel sales, marketing, product development and operations. He will report directly to MegaPath Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Craig Young. Hoffman served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Speakeasy for eight years leading up to the company’s merger with MegaPath and Covad in 2010. Hoffman is a seasoned executive with over 30 years of technology and operational experience. He brings to MegaPath a proven ability to lead all business operations, including product development, customer operations, sales and finance. Most recently, Hoffman served as COO at Layered Technologies, overseeing all operations and technology groups within the company. Prior to that role, he served as COO for Hawaiian Telcom, overseeing day-to-day product development, sales and marketing operations. Before joining Speakeasy, Hoffman also held several senior level positions at Level 3 and Sprint.

“I am excited to welcome Kurt Hoffman as our new President and Chief Executive of Cloud Services. MegaPath has made several key transactions to position itself for growth, and Kurt is the ideal person to drive our future direction. He brings to MegaPath his vast experience in VoIP and cloud services along with a proven ability to lead in all areas of business operations,” said Young. “I also want to personally thank Dan for his leadership, his dedication and his significant contribution to MegaPath and wish him the best in his next endeavors.”

“I am excited to join MegaPath during this transformative time as the company increases its focus on the high-growth cloud services market,” said Hoffman, who will step into the role officially on March 1. “I look forward to reconnecting with old colleagues and working with the entire MegaPath team and its partners as MegaPath furthers its strategy of becoming a dominant global cloud communications provider.”
