KDLaw defends against high wireless prices in new Sprint commercial

By Dave Mellin

Law offices of Kevin Durant & Associates are open*

After a crash course completing his law degree in four days, NBA star Kevin Durant is taking his skills from the hardcourt to the courtroom, and the Law Offices of Kevin Durant & Associates are open, according to a new TV spot from Sprint.

Durant stars in the 30-second “Infomercial” spot that debuted last night during TNT’s telecast of the NBA All-Star Game.

There’s also a 60-second spot that features Durant in the courtroom “guarding” against high wireless prices other carriers charge.

On Feb. 8, Durant began teasing that something was coming using his personal Twitter feed (@KDTrey5) where he posted, “think during this @NBAAllStar break I’m going to get my law degree.” Additional tweets followed throughout the week using #KDLaw to pique the interest of his followers.

Both TV spots are part of a larger campaign starring Durant to highlight Sprint’s Cut Your Bill in Half Event and will be complemented by innovative digital and social extensions of the ad concept. The new spot and all extensions were developed by New York-based advertising agency Translation.

“I’ve been working with Sprint for several years now and we challenged ourselves to do something different for our newest commercial,” Durant said. “The ‘Cut Your Bill in Half’ ad was a fun spot for me to shoot and I loved being in the courtroom and playing ‘KD, Esq.’”

These are the latest TV ads from Sprint touting the Cut Your Bill in Half Event, targeting Verizon and AT&T customers. For more information visitwww.sprint.com/halfprice.
