High Fiber Count Cable to Provide Thousands of Businesses along Wacker Drive with New Option for High-Speed Internet, Voice, Data and Cloud Services
CHICAGO – (Jan. 29, 2015) – WOW! Business, a communications and cloud service provider, today announced the purchase of fiber conduit along Wacker Drive in the downtown Chicago central business district. The acquisition will enable the company to provide business tenants in 38 downtown buildings with a new alternative for high-speed Internet, voice, data and cloud computing services. WOW! Business purchased an approximately one-mile length of empty fiber conduit it plans to fill with a 432-count fiber-optic cable during the second quarter of this year.
The purchase of the fiber conduit adds an important asset to the WOW! Business network footprint in Chicago as the company continues to execute an aggressive expansion strategy it started last year. Business is also adding about 1,200 miles of fiber to provide fiber backhaul for more than 500 cell towers in the Chicago metropolitan area and rolled-out Ethernet, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunking, hosted VoIP and high-speed Internet services to local businesses.
