Gigabit broadband becomes economic growth catalyst for job creation, revitalized education, improved healthcare and municipal services
HUNTSVILLE, Ala.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Jan. 13, 2015– ADTRAN®, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADTN, news, filings), a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, today announced as part of its Enabling Communities, Connecting Lives program, that Hilliary Communications is deploying ADTRAN’s Gigabit services architecture across Oklahoma and north central Texas. Having already deployed Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) services based on ADTRAN’s broadband platform, Hilliary Communications will now be offering higher rate, premium Gigabit services for residential and business customers.
The launch of Hilliary Communications’ FTTH service a few years ago brought connectivity to thousands of households in remote communities—some of which were isolated within a nature wildlife refuge and others within an Indian reservation territory. Hilliary Communications is building out its infrastructure to deliver ultra-fast Gigabit broadband to support IP telephony, HDTV and business Ethernet services, as well as consumer driven applications like over-the-top (OTT) video. Hilliary Communications expects Gigabit service delivery to become an economic catalyst to provide new opportunities for these rural communities.
“When we first deployed our FTTH service, many of our customers had access to high-speed broadband for the first time and it changed the way they were able to communicate with the rest of the world. Seeing the impact of that initial investment has given us great confidence that Gigabit broadband will have a similar effect and will create new economic opportunities for our community,” said Eddie Hilliary, president, Hilliary Communications. “ADTRAN has been with us every step of the way and its FTTH portfolio is perfectly suited to help us transition to Gigabit service delivery.”
“There is a real opportunity for service providers to look ahead and anticipate what their communities will need to be economically competitive over the next decade. With service providers, like Hilliary Communications, taking a forward-thinking approach and deploying Gigabit services, residents of rural communities will have an economic advantage that can dramatically impact the future of their community,” said Mitch Fleming, regional vice president, sales, ADTRAN Carrier Networks Division. “ADTRAN’s Gigabit service architecture delivers the flexibility and scalability Hilliary Communications needs to make these services a reality.”
ADTRAN’s Enabling Communities, Connecting Lives program showcases how innovative technologies are being used in cities, towns and communities across the country to support economic growth and urban development. These communities are using ADTRAN’s world-class Gigabit broadband, Wi-Fi and Cloud service offerings to re-invigorate downtown business and residential districts, connect classrooms with other learning centers around the world, and help attract new companies seeking to relocate out of crowded urban centers.
