TATA DOCOMO, one of India’s premier operators, is set to offer high-quality mobile broadband services to its customers. Due to the steep growth in mobile broadband traffic, the operator has modernized its 3G network based on Nokia Networks’ Single RAN (radio access network) product and services. Customers will soon enjoy better data services with higher network coverage and capacity.

Key highlights of the deal
- Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station featuring HSPA+( High-Speed Packet Access) technology and Radio Network Controllers
- Flexi Lite Base Stations for enhancing capacity and providing best coverage in densely crowded areas
- NetAct network management system for effective monitoring and management of TATA DOCOMO’s network
- Network planning and optimization, project management services as well as hardware and software support to ensure a smooth network roll out

As per Nokia MBiT Index report 3G in India grew by 156% y-o-y in 2013, higher than the world’s average. On an average consumption on 3G(532MB/month/user) grew in India by almost 100 MB in 2013. However 3G coverage in India as identified by the report is limited. On an average in several circles in India there is 20-25% coverage gap between 2G and 3G which if bridged can possibly help delivering even stronger mobile data growth in India
