Mobilizing Your World on the Network of the Future: A Look at What’s Possible

Earlier this year, we shared our vision for the network of the future.

Earlier this year, we shared our vision for the network of the future. We’re creating an intelligent platform that will give customers more flexibility and more control – a network that will be able to anticipate more accurately what our customers need. The new network will move core network capabilities from hardware to software, replacing physical equipment with code.

Today at the AT&T Foundry™ in Palo Alto, I’m joined by AT&T innovators and collaborators who are not only showing how we’re advancing our vision for the network of the future, but also accelerating innovation in areas that will mobilize your world. We’re showing how we’re using software-defined networking, Open Source-created and licensed software, and an evolving network to deliver the future.

A few projects we’re highlighting in Silicon Valley today:

  • Our AT&T Foundry™ in Plano, TX prototyped a Virtual Electric Heads Up Display, a device that helps car buyers considering electric vehicles to understand energy use and range – virtually – while driving their own gasoline-powered cars. Check out the video below to learn more.
  • Cascade for Cars, a project from the AT&T Foundry™ in Palo Alto, allows users to send and to receive calls and messages from any device, including their connected car, without the need for Bluetooth pairing.
  • The Tower Outage and Network Analyzer (TONA) technology uses real-time data and historical measurements of previous network disturbances to capture the ripple-effect of a disruption in our network. Developed by network engineers and researchers at AT&T Labs Advanced Technologies, the project is helping our network teams quickly prioritize restoration work.
