Huawei’s eLTE Solution Alliance Promotes Importance of Long-Term Enterprise Evolution for Better Connected Industries

[Shanghai, China, November 19, 2014]: Huawei today hosted its second eLTE Solution Alliance Summit in Shanghai with the theme “eLTE for Better Connected Industries”. Founded by Huawei in February 2014, the eLTE Solution Alliance promotes the implementation of professional LTE technologies across industries. The summit gathered approximately 200 experts including representatives from industry organizations specialized in trunking standards, analysts, industry partners and customer representatives from China and around the world.

Mr. David Wang, President of the Wireless Product Line, Products and Solutions, Huawei, opened the summit with a keynote speech titled ‘Openness, Cooperation and Win-win – eLTE for Better Connected Industries’. “Huawei believes that 4G LTE technology is the ideal technology for vertical industries that are adopting mobile broadband,” said Mr. Wang. “Through offering multi-frequency support and an open architecture, Huawei’s eLTE broadband trunking solution has been applied to many industries and projects across the globe, helping to build a better connected world. Huawei will continue to work with our partners to develop innovative solutions and conduct joint marketing strategies to foster a supportive industry ecosystem.”

The currently works with 56 partners to innovate and develop eLTE solutions, a number of which, including Funkwerk, and Commway, were recognized at the summit for their contribution to the development of eLTE solutions over the past year. This year’s summit also saw a total of 26 new members join the eLTE Solution Alliance including industry-leading enterprises such as China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co. Ltd, Casco Signal Ltd., Getac (Su Zhou) Mobile Ltd., and O3b Networks.

The eLTE Solution Alliance welcomes its new members.

On the importance of industry partnerships, Mr. Patrick Zhang, President of Marketing and Solutions, Products and Solutions Department, Huawei, said, “Over the next five years, Huawei hopes to work with its partners and the entire enterprise technology ecosystem to create a $10 billion market opportunity in eLTE. In order to achieve this target, Huawei will support partners by providing them an enterprise software development kit (eSDK), online development support, open lab cooperation, joint marketing and a sales incentive plan (SIP) which includes cash discounts to partners.”

Mr. Miao Wei, Deputy General Manager, Nanjing Commway Wireless Network, said, “Nanjing Commway Wireless Network and Huawei deployed the world’s first eLTE-based multimedia digital broadband trunking system in Nanjing to cover the city’s metropolitan areas in 2013. In August 2014, Huawei’s eLTE solution provided a series of high-performance services at the Summer Youth Olympic Games held Nanjing, including command and scheduling, fleet assurance and broadcasting live backhaul. Moving forward, Nanjing Commway will continue to work with Huawei to develop new services based on Nanjing city’s existing eLTE network to support the government’s public services and day-to-day management.”

By the end of Q3 2014, Huawei signed 66 industry-dedicated LTE networks contracts and deployed 20 eLTE-based industry-dedicated commercial networks. In addition, Huawei has played a key role in defining the global broadband trunking standards. Since 2010, 546 of Huawei’s proposals have been accepted by 3GPP LTE core standards. With 25% of the total proposals accepted globally, Huawei leads the ICT industry with the most accepted 3GPP LTE core standard proposals.

Huawei’s eLTE solutions are aligned with the LTE-based Broadband Trunking Communication (B-TrunC) standard, which was adopted on November 11 by the International Telecommunication Union’s Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R) to support its Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) initiative. In China, Huawei also deployed B-TrunC standard eLTE solutions as part of Nanjing and Tianjin e-Government projects.
