Huawei Showcases Solutions to Help “Building a Better Connected Africa” at AfricaCom 2014

[Cape Town, South Africa, November 12, 2014]: Huawei will demonstrate its latest solutions at AfricaCom 2014 in Cape Town in hall D3 of the CTICC, in line with the conference’s theme – “Building a Better Connected Africa.” In particular, the company will highlight its ultra-fast broadband solutions available to the African market, leadership in experience centric operations, and strategic investments to help operators in Africa develop agile digital business models.

Mr. Li Peng, President of Eastern and Southern Africa, Huawei, said, “For more than 15 years, with the aim of bringing the continent closer together and bridging the digital divide, we’ve been continuously investing in Africa, delivering broadband coverage especially to rural areas. Meanwhile, Huawei creates job opportunities for thousands of talented Africans. More than 10,000 customers and students have been trained in Huawei’s training centers and the Huawei Telecom Seeds for the Future program will continue to develop ICT talent in Africa.”

At AfricaCom 2014, Huawei will showcase a range of products and services, aimed at creating better services and more efficient solutions for African consumers, which revolve around three main areas of focus:

Ultra-Broadband Network

The African telecom industry has entered the ultra-fast broadband age. Transitioning from the connection-oriented Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) 1.0 stage to the FMC 2.0 stage provides faster speeds and lower latency, resulting in a higher-quality experience for consumers. At AfricaCom, Huawei will both outline its FMC 2.0 strategy and showcase its ultra-fast broadband solutions available to the African market.

Experience Centric Operations

To support telecom operators in improving their return on investment through the systematic use of Big Data analysis, Huawei offers industry-leading managed services which helps operators enhance their total value of ownership and realize best-in-class operational transformation. Huawei’s Business and Network consulting also provides support for efficient network planning, helping customers improve their investment effectiveness by using Huawei HetNet integration for efficient internet protocol network planning and dynamic refarming.

Agile Digital Business

With operators in Africa actively seeking to develop agile digital business models, Huawei strategically invests in digital service convergence, network capability openness, and BSS transformation. Huawei solutions serve to help operators increase their customer subscription base as well as expand into new markets including vertical industries such as mining, banking, energy, government, and transportation.

Huawei will also showcase their latest smartphones and tablets at the conference. For the Enterprise market, new innovations and solutions including Telepresence, eLTE and WlAN will be available for demonstration and discussion.
