Gift ideas for your teenager

By Dave Mellin

I have two teenage children, a son and a daughter, and technology and various wireless accessories rank high on their respective wish lists this holiday season. Thankfully, Sprint has many options to choose from that are sure to bring smiles to their faces.

Mini Drones

For entertainment and fun both indoors and outdoors, minidrones are something I’m considering for my teenage son. Minidrones are a great way for kids to enjoy their wireless devices in a unique way and Sprint offers two minidrones from Parrot that make for a great gift.
Rolling Spider

Available for $99.99 (plus tax), Rolling Spider is a minidrone that comes equipped with numerous sensors and autopilot, so it’s easy to maneuver. Tilt your device to the right or left, and the Rolling Spider mimics your movements. Push the landing button to start the automatic landing procedure. A vertical camera (60fps) positioned under its fuselage helps for stable snapshots during flight recorded on 1GB flash memory.

Rolling Spider can also be equipped with two ultralight wheels. Once the wheels are fixed on its back, the drone can race on the ground, climb a wall and continue to the ceiling. It is available in red, blue and white and comes with 12 stickers for a customized look.

Jumping Sumo
Jumping Sumo, available for $159.99 (plus tax), rolls, rushes, zigzags, circles, takes turns at 90 degrees and jumps up to 80 centimeters in height and length. It comes with a wide-angle camera that can take pictures and videos and is available in three color schemes: black and red, white and black, and khaki and yellow.
You can pilot either minidrone with select smartphones or tablets using the Free Flight 3 iOS or Android app.

Music
Music is always a hot item in our household so it’s a good thing Sprint offers a variety of options ranging from a portable speaker or earbuds by Harman Kardon to headphones from JBL. Learn more about these speakers and learn how to get a great offer for a free Spotify Premium trial on our gift guide for music lovers.

Virgin Mobile Custom
If your family is anything like mine, then your kids have been begging for a mobile phone since they could walk. Buying your child a mobile phone opens a whole new world of responsibilities, but if your family is ready to make that leap, Virgin Mobile Custom is a great fit because it features robust parental controls.

With Virgin Mobile Custom, you have the ability to turn off access to certain apps, like Facebook, during the school day, or decide to restrict all data usage during certain times of the day. You can limit the times of day your kids can text and call, as well as control who they’re able to connect with throughout the day. Virgin Mobile Custom is available exclusively at Walmart on three devices: ZTE Emblem™ for $79.88, LG Pulse™ for $99.88, or LG Unify™ for $129.88 (pricing excludes taxes, other restrictions apply).

Sports Training Systems
My two teenagers don’t play baseball, tennis or golf, but for teens who are into those sports, Zepp offers some wireless accessories that will help them get to know their swings better and help improve their game through instant 3D and video analysis.

The sports kits, which include a motion sensor, a mount and a mobile app, help your teen analyze and improve their swing. Attach the sensor to a bat, racket or golf glove and take a swing to get feedback. You and your teen can watch their swing in 3-D on a smartphone or tablet which allows for instant feedback. They can improve their game and perform more consistently by making any needed adjustments while they are practicing. Learn more with a hands-on demonstration at participating Sprint Stores or by visiting  Zepp Golf, Zepp Tennis Flex Mount, Zepp Baseball Mount
