- Ericsson to manage operations and maintenance of M:tel’s network
- Seven-year contract includes network operations, field services management for M:tel’s radio, transmission and core networks
- Enables M:tel to offer an enhanced user experience to its subscribers
Montenegrin operator M:tel has signed a seven-year managed services agreement with Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC, news, filings). Ericsson will manage the operator’s network infrastructure – including the radio access network, transmission network and core network – as well as IT operations related to value-added services and charging and billing.
In addition, Ericsson will provide field support and maintenance, spare parts -handling, support for enterprise IT and service desks for M:tel’s end users. As a result of the agreement, M:tel’s network operations and field operations divisions will be transferred to Ericsson.
Vladimir Lucic, CEO of M:tel, says: “We were looking for a reliable and professional managed services partner. Today, we are happy to announce our partnership with Ericsson. We believe this contract will enable us to improve our focus on our core activities and facilitate even more effective and integrated handling and management of our networks and service delivery.”
Jean-Claude Geha, Vice President and Head of Managed Services at Ericsson, says: “This is our first managed services agreement in Montenegro and we look forward to leveraging the skills and know-how we have developed by managing networks around the world. I expect that the M:tel employees who join Ericsson as a result of this agreement will help us to continue to provide excellent managed services not just to M:tel, but to other operators as well.”
Ericsson manages telecommunications networks that serve 600 million subscribers and provides some form of managed services for networks that serve 1 billion subscribers. As the global leader in managed services, Ericsson will proactively formulate strategies for network improvement in line with rapidly evolving market conditions.
M:tel is among the top three communications service providers in Montenegro, with a mobile market share of more than 28 percent.
