Level 3 Provides Enterprises with Secure, High-Performance Connectivity to Cloud Services from HP

Adds HP Helion Managed Cloud Service to Its Cloud Connect Solutions Ecosystem

BROOMFIELD, Colo., Oct. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) today announced the addition of HP Helion Managed Cloud Service to the Level 3 Cloud Connect Solutions ecosystem. Enterprises and government agencies will be able to establish secure, high-performance, efficient connections to HP Helion Managed Cloud Service using Level 3’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) and security services in North America, Latin America and Europe. This alliance provides Level 3 and HP customers worldwide with a reliable and flexible path to migrate and manage mission-critical applications and data in the cloud.

To address common concerns among enterprises related to cloud and data center migration, including security, performance and control, Level 3 has collaborated with HP and other cloud service providers to offer comprehensive cloud networking. The solution enables customers to be more agile by providing rapid service provisioning, dynamic bandwidth and usage-based billing for them to focus on developing and delivering core business applications in the cloud.

“The combination of HP and Level 3 delivers the tools for customers to transform their IT and network architecture in the cloud,” said Anthony Christie, chief marketing officer of Level 3. “By forging relationships with the most respected brands in the cloud services industry, like HP, enterprises can execute their cloud strategies with confidence in the performance of their cloud environments, allowing customers to focus on the growth of their business.”

Level 3 Cloud Connect Solutions offers VPN connectivity built directly into HP Helion Managed Cloud Service. Private network access coupled with managed network security services via the global Level 3 network to HP dual-active cloud sites establishes load balancing and redundant failover, which deliver 99.999 percent uptime – addressing enterprises’ primary concerns about data security, business continuity and reliability in the cloud. Level 3 Cloud Connect Solutions also delivers direct connections to HP Helion Managed Virtual Private Cloud for Public Sector. HP Helion Managed Virtual Private Cloud for Public Sector follows applicable regulatory standards such as FedRAMP and FISMA, which provide customers with reassurances about the security and compliance of their overall cloud strategy.

“Effective management and security of business-critical data are key concerns among enterprises today, so it remains imperative for HP to deliver and protect core business applications in the cloud,” said Jim Fanella, vice president, Workload and Cloud, HP Enterprise Services. “The combination of HP Helion and Level 3 Cloud Connect Solutions provides customers with needed security, control and responsiveness to meet the changing demands of their business.”

Level 3 and HP expect these services to be available in North America during the fourth quarter of 2014 with global availability in the first half of 2015.
