[Amsterdam, Netherlands, October 23, 2014]: Huawei today announced that its Virtual Data Center (vDC) solution has won the “Best Virtualization Innovation” award at the Broadband InfoVision Awards, part of the World Broadband Forum 2014.
Mr. Zha Jun, President, Fixed Network Product Line, Huawei, said, “We are very proud that the Huawei vDC solution has won the ‘Best Virtualization Innovation’ award. It recognizes Huawei’s innovation in software-defined network (SDN) technology that helps carriers build service-centered IDC (Internet Data Center) network architecture which facilitates customized services for tenants. Huawei will continue to work with carriers to explore innovation in virtualization technologies and solutions for a mutually successful future.”
Huawei vDC solution greatly improves IDC resource usage, operation capabilities, and maintenance efficiencies. Through three core capabilities, it further enhances the competitiveness of carriers in IDC and cloud service markets.
- Network openness: SDN architecture provides programmable open application interfaces for rapid service innovation, deployment and provisioning.
- Network virtualization: The SDN and virtualization technology allows IDC resource integration which supports an increase in usage by over 30 percent.
- Hybrid cloud service: Virtual Extensible LAN (VxLAN) leased lines provide hybrid cloud services for government and enterprise customers. It allows private clouds access to carriers’ public clouds, accelerating cloud services and enhancing competitive capabilities amongst carriers.
Held during the Broadband World Forum 2014, the Broadband InfoVision Awards are highly regarded for recognizing innovative breakthroughs in the telecom industry. Technologies and solutions that contribute significantly to the industry by helping increase profits, reduce costs and improve network quality as well as user experience are shortlisted.
