DALLAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–
Global colocation solutions provider CyrusOne (CONE) announced today that eight new telecom carriers and fiber providers have committed to deliver services via its enterprise-class multi-tenant data center located in Loudoun County, Northern Virginia. Committed companies include Level 3 Communications, tw telecom, Comcast, SummitIG, FiberLight, Lightower, Zayo and CenturyLink.
CyrusOne specializes in highly reliable enterprise data center services and colocation solutions. The company engineers its facilities with redundant power technology, or 2N architecture, to achieve uninterrupted uptime for excellent data center power availability. With 25 carrier-neutraldata center facilities across the United States, Europe, and Asia, CyrusOne provides customers with the flexibility to scale to match their business growth.
“As a carrier-neutral colocation provider, we empower our Fortune 1000 customers to select a best-in-class carrier that best fits their unique preferences and requirements. Having premium carriers and Internet service providers available in our facilities is essential to ensure our data centers are functioning at an optimum level and can deliver the performance capabilities our customers expect,” said Josh Snowhorn, vice president and general manager, interconnection, CyrusOne. “Having them available when our Sterling, Virginia data center facility opens in the fourth quarter of 2014, combined with our National IX ecosystem that will operate in the facility, will allow customers to have broad choices when it comes to their connectivity needs.”
The first phase of the Massively Modular® CyrusOne facility in Northern Virginia is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter and includes a 124,000-square-foot shell with capacity for 60,000 square feet of raised floor space, 15,000 square feet of office space, and up to 12 megawatts of critical load. Located on 14 acres the site is expected upon completion to accommodate a shell of approximately 400,000 square feet with up to 240,000 square feet of raised floor space, 36,000 square feet of Class A office space, and up to 48 MW of critical load. CyrusOne broke ground on the facility in early April 2014. CyrusOne chose Northern Virginia, known as “Data Center Alley,” to establish its first East Coast data center due to current and new customer demand and the steady absorption rate of new space and superior fiber connectivity options in the area.
The CyrusOne National IX leverages low-cost robust connectivity to virtually link more than a dozen of CyrusOne’s massively scaled enterprise facilities and third-party locations in multiple metropolitan markets. The interconnectivity, multiple dispersed locations, and available 100 percent uptime enables Fortune 1000 enterprises to mix and match data centers to implement cost-effective production and/or disaster recovery platforms. This can also help companies to manage applicable regulatory or industry-specific requirements, such as Sarbanes Oxley, HIPAA, and PCI. CyrusOne facilities are Open-IX (OIX) Association certified.
