BOULDER, Colo. – September 10, 2014 – Zayo Group, LLC (“Zayo”), an international provider of bandwidth infrastructure services, and the National Basketball Association (NBA) announced today they have teamed up to transport live broadcast and video feeds for all NBA games beginning with the 2014-15 NBA season.
The NBA’s enhanced broadcast video system will provide managed video transport services for all 29 NBA arenas, carrying multiple high-definition (HD) live streams from each arena to the league’s office in Secaucus, N.J.
“NBA’s collaboration with Zayo demonstrates the role of fiber networks in enabling services offered by media and content companies,” said Zayo CEO and Chairman Dan Caruso. “Our fiber network will directly reach most of the NBA arenas, enabling the league to offer new services and capabilities.
“Zayo’s agility and expertise provides the NBA with more access to live broadcast and video feeds than ever before,” said NBA Chief Information Officer Michael Gliedman. “This innovative fiber optic network will further enhance the experience for the league, our teams, and most importantly, our fans.”
In addition to providing the underlying fiber infrastructure, the network will utilize 100G wavelength transport and managed video network equipment to deliver HD video content. The video platform will be further supported by a dedicated operational team from Zayo’s recently formed Media and Gaming operations team.
