Verizon CEO to discuss how the convergence between digital technology and the physical world is creating a platform for innovation
Industry estimates show that by 2050, 70 percent of the world’s population will live in cities. Left unchecked, the costs of rapid urbanization are high and could worsen aging infrastructure, traffic congestion, public safety and economic development.
Amid these 21st century challenges, on Sunday more than 10,000 of the world’s leading transportation policy makers, researchers, high-tech innovators and business professionals from the United States, Europe and Asia will gather in Detroit, Michigan for the kickoff of the 21st Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress .
Lowell McAdam, chairman and CEO of Verizon Communications, will keynote the conference opening session, on Tuesday, September 9, discussing how the convergence between digital technology and the physical world is creating a platform for innovation that will make transportation systems smarter, safer, and greener. McAdam’s keynote will be held at the Cobo Center in the Grand Ballroom beginning at 8:30am ET. While in Detroit, McAdam will address the Detroit Economic Club at a private luncheon on Monday, September 8.
Other ITS World Congress program highlights will include:
- A panel on the economics and partnerships driving the connected car will include Kevin Link, senior vice president and general manager at Verizon Telematics. The panel will be held on Monday, September 8, from 3pm to 4:30pm in room 140D at the Cobo Center.
- A panel on future mobility will include Mark Bartolomeo, vice president and head of IoT Connected Solutions at Verizon on Tuesday, September 9, from 1pm to 2:30pm in room 142A at the Cobo Center.
Harnessing the power of the connected lifestyle, Verizon will showcase a wide range of solutions at Booth #814 at the Cobo Center and at the technology showcase on Belle Isle throughout the conference. Verizon’s interactive demos will include solutions for smart cities, connected cars, fleet management and intelligent transportation. For more information, watch the video below.
