KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Sept. 15, 2014 – More than 180 creative individuals from across Asia have signed up to participate in 2014 Malaysia Developers’ Day – ASEAN Edition beginning Wednesday.
The Malaysia Developers’ Day is a contest that challenges participants from 14 Asian countries* to develop a mobile application within 24 hours. AT&T** and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) are co-hosting the event and will provide tools, education, mentors and prizes valued more than US$15,000 (~MYR47,400). Participants will work in teams to come up with apps to compete in three categories under the overarching theme of “Building a Digital Ecosystem.”

“We are thrilled to see the enthusiastic response to this year’s Malaysia Developers’ Day. “Last year’s event was a success with more than 110 Malaysian participants creating 24 app ideas. This year, developers from ASEAN will participate. Malaysia Developers’ Day 2014 – ASEAN Edition will take place in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 9.00 a.m. MYT on September 17 to 5.00 p.m. on September 18. Category-winning finalists will present their apps at the KL Converge! Gala Dinner on September 19 for a chance take home the grand prize of US$10,000.
*Participation includes developers from ASEAN countries – Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as ASEAN’s dialogue partners – mainland China, India, Japan and Republic of Korea.
