(NASDAQ: MRVC) (“MRV®”), a leading provider of innovative packet and optical solutions, announced today that its OptiSwitch® 9244 10GE pre-aggregation platform is the latest solution in the OptiSwitch portfolio to be compliant with the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Carrier Ethernet (CE) 2.0 specifications. Additional OptiSwitch solutions achieving MEF CE 2.0 certification include the OptiSwitch 940, OptiSwitch 906G and OptiSwitch 606 platforms, together creating a robust portfolio of metro access devices for the delivery of E-Line, E-LAN, E-Tree and E-Access services. The OptiSwitch 9244 platform features a compact, high-density and low-power design that empowers service providers to streamline the delivery and management of mobile, wholesale and business Ethernet services. The MEF CE 2.0 certification demonstrates the OptiSwitch platform’s ability to provide full interoperability and visibility into customer networks and enable service providers to further simplify services deployment and time-to-market.
By creating a single, efficient and internationally-recognized testing process to validate compliance, the MEF certification program streamlines Carrier Ethernet service interoperability among multiple service providers. Additionally, the program helps ensure end-to-end quality-of-service (QoS), accelerate deployment times for new services and simplify wholesale interconnection between carrier networks. The OptiSwitch 9244 platform is widely deployed in these applications and offers the highest capacity among the OptiSwitch family of access and aggregation switches. To conserve space at 1st mile locations, in cabinets and in service provider Point of Presences (POPs), the OptiSwitch 9244 platform is only two rack units high and meets the 10” ETSI standard depth. With 12 ports of GE/10GE and 32 ports of 1GE, it is an ideal solution for a wide range of next-generation services from the growing 4G/LTE mobile backhaul to broadband aggregation to Layer 2, Layer 3 and IP/MPLS VPN business Ethernet services.
