[Beijing, China, August 26, 2014]: Huawei announced that it has completed the first LTE TDD Easy Macro commercial deployment in Beijing with China Mobile. This newly improved LTE TDD Easy Macro improves the download rate by 40% for outdoor users and 180% for indoor users.
Huawei’s Easy Macro is a small and light weight macro base station which resembles the size of a traditional macro base station but is improved with an innovative structure and aesthetic design. In addition, the Easy Macro is environmentally friendly with a carbon footprint of zero, and user friendly as it can easily be used and installed, mountable on walls, lamppost, poles, and roof top and other “zero site space” locations. It also has a high power output and large capacity, which can help operators enhance network coverage and capacity easily.
As of July 2014, the number of LTE TDD subscribers on China Mobile has exceeded 20 million and is estimated to reach 50 million by the end of this year. In order to meet the increasing demand for superior mobile broadband experiences, China Mobile deployed LTE TDD Easy Macro in a Beijing Hutong in a compact area with dense population, to demonstrate its strengths. The quick deployment and attractive scalability of the Easy Macro will continue to help operators mitigate challenges in site acquisition, improve poor user experience in the cell edge, while addressing increasing mobile traffic and keeping costs low. Huawei Easy Macro will soon be available globally, targeted at densely populated old urban areas, scenic roads, residential quarters, scenic parks and major roads.
As of the July of 2014, 87 LTE TDD networks have been deployed around the world. With strong technology capabilities and abundant commercial practices, Huawei continues to build momentum in the development of LTE technologies and has won 77 LTE TDD network contracts to date.
