DQE COMMUNICATIONS PROVIDES FIBER-OPTIC NETWORKING TO IRON MOUNTAIN

Iron Mountain to Connect its National Data Center to Pittsburgh Via DQE’s Fiber-Optic Cable

PITTSBURGH – DQE Communications, the region’s leading provider of data networking services for businesses, has signed a 20-year contract with Iron Mountain (NYSE:IRM, news) to support the data storage and information management company’s growing data center business.

DQE will connect Iron Mountain’s storage facility in Boyers, Pa., to a fiber-optic meeting point at on Pittsburgh’s North Side, where DQE’s expansive Western Pa. network interfaces with other fiber-optic carriers from across the country. From there, Iron Mountain will be able to improve its connection with its clients across North America by rapidly transporting, protecting and saving crucial data to its underground storage facility in Boyers.

DQE will provide Iron Mountain’s National Data Center in western Pennsylvania with high-speed, fiber-optic data network services. Specifically DQE will provide its redundant dark optical fiber, designed to power Iron Mountain’s network services. Iron Mountain’s National Data Center offers retail colocation and wholesale data center leasing options ideal for highly regulated industries. Via its ever-expanding network of high-speed, fiber-optic cables, DQE will connect Iron Mountain’s data center complex to a fiber-optic meeting point on Pittsburgh’s North Side, where DQE’s expansive southwestern Pennsylvania network interfaces with other fiber-optic carriers across the country. This service provides fast, secure, high bandwidth connectivity enabling Iron Mountain to offer in-demand, hybrid cloud services to their data center colocation customers.

DQE Communications will add approximately 40 miles of fiber-optic cable from Iron Mountain’s site in Boyers, Pennsylvania to Butler, Pennsylvania. Iron Mountain is contracting 192 miles of DQE Communications fiber optic cable from its site to Pittsburgh’s North Side.
