Road Scholar Transport Selects Frontier Communications to Enhance and Streamline Communications

Trucking Company Upgrades Communications Equipment to Meet Business Demand in Multiple States

DUNMORE, Pa.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Founded in 1988, Road Scholar Transport has grown from a one-owner trucking operator to a large, asset-based freight carrier serving businesses and individuals throughout the continental U.S. and five Canadian provinces. With a fleet of more than 105 tractors, 300 trailers and 65 refrigerated units, the company recently expanded its corporate headquarters in Dunmore, Pennsylvania and selected Frontier Communications (NYSE:FTR, news, filings) to enhance and streamline communications among its headquarters and satellite locations in Philadelphia, Mechanicsburg and Denver, Pa.; Carlstadt, N.J.; and Leominster, Mass.

Frontier’s sales and engineering teams designed a telecommunications system for Road Scholar Transport to accommodate the company’s newly expanded facility and future growth. To recognize cost efficiencies, Frontier’s team implemented a centralized Mitel 5000 system that fully integrates Road Scholar’s multi-state locations and end users and supports their diverse communications requirements.

“Road Scholar Transport was expanding its headquarters building but it had a 20-year-old high-risk phone system,” said Mike Grohs, Enterprise Account Executive, Frontier Communications. “The business is phone dependent and could not afford to be out of service for long periods. Furthermore, the older phone system would not accommodate the additional phones from the facility’s expansion. Frontier provided them with a versatile new Mitel system that will support Road Scholar’s future growth without requiring a completely revamped platform.”

Grohs added, “Our 10-year relationship as Road Scholar’s phone and Internet provider allowed us to address their immediate needs and assess ways they can stay connected, work smarter and better serve customers.”

“We chose Frontier Communications for this major equipment installation because of our history together and the company’s responsiveness,” said Jim Barrett, President, Road Scholar Transport. “Their employees are partners with us, and their technicians, hands down, are the best. Whenever we need support, Frontier’s technicians are like first-responders, quickly arriving, assessing and providing outstanding service. They are professional and cordial, expediting whatever is required to keep our business running smoothly.”

Grohs noted that the Frontier team delivers on its promise of continued personalized service and responsiveness. “Like Road Scholar, we are based locally. Frontier’s employees live in the markets we serve, so we understand the needs of our customers and have a mutual goal of creating value in the communities we serve.”
