  • Lightower Now Offers Advanced All-Fiber, High-Performance Networking Solutions to All of MiCTA’s Technology Organizations
  • Members Comprise Higher and K-12 Education, Government, Health Care, Public Sector and Other Non-Profit Organizations

BOXBOROUGH, MA — July 23, 2014 — Lightower Fiber Networks , the premier all-fiber provider of custom, high-capacity network services that ensure optimal application and business performance, today announced that it has been approved as a vendor to MiCTA, a national non-profit group purchasing organization representing higher education, K-12, government and other non-profit entities. Lightower has been approved to deliver its all-fiber portfolio of Ethernet, SONET, Wavelengths , Dark Fiber, Colocation and Internet services to the full MiCTA membership.

Lightower has extensive experience delivering advanced networking solutions to all of these industries. By deploying reliable and redundant high-speed, all-fiber networks, organizations of all sizes and with diverse missions can deliver the services they need while coping with constrained budgets and high demands. Lightower has successfully partnered with organizations for years to develop and deliver customized solutions that meet the service needs and budget requirements in today’s dynamic business environment.

“We understand the value that high-performance networks deliver to education, government, health care and varied enterprises,” stated Doug Dalissandro, Chief Revenue Officer of Lightower. “The business goal is always to deliver higher levels of network performance and network reliability. Delivering data quickly and reliably across a campus, to data centers and to other critical points is something we excel at every day. We look forward to working with the MiCTA membership to deliver networks that can transform their organizations.”

“MiCTA is pleased to welcome Lightower as an approved vendor for high-bandwidth private line telecommunications, IP and specialty services,” said Tim von Hoff, Chief Operating Officer of MiCTA. “MiCTA members have expressed strong interest in high-capacity, fiber-based network infrastructure options and flexible colocation services. Lightower is well-positioned to deliver these services to MiCTA members in their service areas.”

Lightower’s proposal was selected as part of MiCTA’s highly competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) process, which evaluates products and services on behalf of its nationwide membership. MiCTA’s master service agreements deliver substantial cost savings to its members and eliminate the need for MiCTA members to conduct their own expensive and time-consuming individual RFPs.

Lightower’s all-fiber solutions deliver the highest levels of performance for mission-critical networking solutions and applications across the U.S. Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Chicago Metro. The company recently completed a 400-mile expansion in the greater Washington, D.C. region, and is currently expanding in the Chicago and greater Baltimore regions. Lightower is also in the process of extensive construction of a new statewide network in the state of Virginia.

With a long history of serving government, higher education and research customers, Lightower holds similar data communications network services contracts with the states of Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York. For more information, visit www.lightower.com or call 1.888.LT.FIBER.
