Frontier Communications Employees in Nebraska Ratify Contract with CWA

Employees Put the Customer First

STAMFORD, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Employees of Frontier Communications (NYSE:FTR, news, filings) in Kearney and Columbus, Nebraska represented by the Communications Workers of America (CWA) (www.cwa-union.org) Local 7471 have ratified a customer service-focused labor agreement with the company, said Kevin Wallick, Frontier’s Area General Manager for Nebraska.

The agreement was ratified June 25, 2014. Frontier and union bargaining committees worked together to address issues that were priorities for both parties: intense competition in the telecommunications industry, challenging economic times, the importance of hiring and retaining the best employees and providing competitive wages and benefits.

CWA Local 7471 represents 30 sales and service technicians and retail sales specialists who serve Frontier customers in Kearney and Columbus. The ratified contract, which expires May 17, 2017, will help Frontier remain competitive and enhance customer service while continuing to provide solid wages and benefits to its Nebraska-based union employees.

“Facing a tough economic and increasingly competitive business environment, CWA 7471 and Frontier worked cooperatively to reach their respective objectives,” said Wallick. “Everyone recognized that we are all in this together, and the ratification is a ‘win-win’ outcome for our employees, our customers and our future.”

Frontier and Local 7471 leadership collaborated on many operational and economic issues, noted Shayne Zwiener, Frontier’s Local Manager for Nebraska, and both groups focused on putting the customer first. Citing a true team effort between Local 7471 and Frontier, Zwiener said the bargaining was frank and focused with all aware of the impact of the agreement upon the customer experience. “Frontier has the best employees in the industry. I am proud they have our customers’ backs and place the customer paramount in all they do. They strive daily to deliver the highest quality broadband, voice and video services to residential and business customers in Nebraska and across the country,” said Zwiener.

With approximately 13,700 employees across 27 states, Frontier serves markets coast to coast, with customers in the rural heartland as well as metro areas, added Zwiener. “Frontier is a truly all-American company, with 100 percent of our workforce based in the United States. Frontier was named a 2014 `Top 100′ Military Friendly Employer®, recognizing our partnerships, support and robust focus on military hiring.”
