CARRIER ACCESS EXPANDS TECHNOLOGY SERVICES: Company acquisition reflects broader technology trend

Carrier Access, Inc, a national communication solutions provider, has acquired Tektivity Inc, a Cedar Rapids-based technology services company. The move allows the two companies to combine their complementary services

Jul. 10, 2014 – DES MOINES, Iowa — “The opportunity to acquire Tektivity made complete sense to me because it allows us to play to the strengths of our industry,” says Brendan Phelps, founder and President of Carrier Access. “Telecom and computer technology are coming closer together. With this move, we can now set ourselves apart by being more for our clients; essentially, by being their guide to all of their technology, rather than just one facet of it.”

Shane Kennedy, Director of Sales at Carrier Access, concurs. “Tektivity’s offerings closely aligned with our current product offerings of managed services, help desk services, voice/data networking and project management,” says Kennedy. “We are looking forward to improving the experience and value for our client base in Eastern Iowa. We are extremely excited about all the new services we can now provide them.”

Phelps agrees, pointing out that the move shifts the company into the regional market for managed services. “Carrier Access has operations extending from Des Moines to Kansas City and Minneapolis. Tektivity’s operations span the Eastern Iowa Corridor and into Illinois. This acquisition allows us to enter the regional managed services market and contribute greatly to the development of technology in the Heartland.”

But no one could be happier than Doug Flugum, original founder and President of Tektivity. “I made this decision because it was truly the best decision for everyone,” says Flugum. “The move allows both Tektivity and Carrier Access to leapfrog the competition by offering a complete technology service line.” The move also allows Flugum, after years in the industry, to pass on the proverbial torch. “I want to thank everyone at Tektivity for their efforts in building one of the best managed service providers in the area, and the folks at Carrier Access for the opportunity to bring the two teams together. I am very excited about their success moving forward.”

Carrier Access will maintain its current office in the Des Moines area, as well as Tektivity’s office in Cedar Rapids.

Carrier Access, Inc. is one of the nation’s leading communication solutions providers. Delivering on their client-first approach for nearly 20 years, they help clients succeed by optimizing their technology networks and expenses through lifecycle management and industry-recognized partnerships.

Tektivity Inc – Tektivity is a leading managed services provider in the Eastern Iowa Corridor. Since 1999, they’ve been helping businesses grow by eliminating technology downtime, optimizing network performance and delivering industry-leading response times.
