BTI Systems Increases Scale and Performance for IPC’s Financial Trading Platform

IPC Leverages the BTI 7800 Series for Metro Networks Supporting World’s Top Financial Trading Firms

OTTAWA and BOSTON – July 8, 2014

BTI Systems, an award-winning provider of cloud and metro networking software and systems to content and service providers around the world, today announced that IPC, a leading provider of trading communications solutions to the world’s top financial services firms, is deploying the BTI 7800 Series 100G converged networking system to increase performance and scalability between major hubs in metro regions.

IPC provides mission-critical communications solutions that are supported by high-performance, robust and stable network capabilities. IPC will deploy the BTI 7800 in its major metro networks and primary POP locations in regions with major financial centers that have the highest concentrations of financial trading firms and activities in the world.

“Our primary goal is to provide our customers with the sophisticated technology and expertise that drives a competitive advantage in every stage of the trading lifecycle,” said IPC’s Vice President of Global Engineering, Tim Carmody. “To do so, we evaluate solution choices for our network very carefully. We have previously collaborated with BTI Systems and successfully optimized our network by globally deploying their platforms for metro networking and low latency Ethernet business services. With our demands escalating daily, we needed to scale to 100G in our major metro networks and determined that BTI offered a preferable solution that enables us to increase performance, capacity and scalability while at the same time, significantly reducing operational complexity of our metro network. BTI also offered a clear migration path to optimizing Label Switch Routing.”

The growth in bandwidth-intensive applications coupled with the migration from local compute/storage models to cloud-based services is driving the need for high-bandwidth interconnect solutions that provide lower cost per GB, higher port and interface efficiency, and reduced operating costs. The BTI 7800 Series platform provides large scale 10 Gbps to 100 Gbps wavelength capacities in the industry’s smallest footprint for Cloud Networking, Data Center Interconnect and Metro Networking solutions. By leveraging BTI’s 100G Coherent capabilities, IPC will increase network capacity significantly, gain 10X spectral efficiency, and reduce space, power and cooling costs. In addition, IPC will be able to efficiently manage and control the BTI 7800 Series as well as the existing BTI 7000 Series and BTI 800 Series solutions deployed throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia as a fully integrated system using the BTI proNX Management and Control Software.

“For more than four decades, IPC has created leading trading communication systems that deliver innovative technologies and connectivity solutions to financial market customers,” said BTI’s Senior Vice President of Global Marketing, Sally Bament. “They provide solutions to one of the most demanding global markets and therefore require network products that deliver flexibility for future growth while delivering maximum performance. Having very successfully deployed the BTI 7000 Series, BTI 800 Series and BTI proNX Service Manager, IPC chose BTI’s 7800 Series to increase bandwidth, integrate seamlessly with their existing infrastructure and provide a path to added efficiencies with LSR functionality. We look forward to continuing to partner with IPC as they expand and increase the value of their network capabilities.”

Next week, IPC’s Carmody will be joining BTI’s Director of Solutions Marketing, Eve Griliches on a panel at the Lightwave Optical Innovation Summit, which will take place at the Renaissance Austin Hotel in Austin, Texas. The panel, titled “Is it Time to Consider Building Your Own Network?” will be moderated by Griliches and will take place on Tuesday, July 15 at 10:00 a.m. CDT. Carmody will be joined on the panel by industry experts from XKL, LLC. and Allied Fiber.
