tw telecom to connect five locations across Texas; provide 100 mb Business Ethernet and Internet to help meet the demand for high volume traffic and inter-site communications
July 21, 2014
DALLAS, July 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — tw telecom (NASDAQ:TWTC, news, filings), a leading provider of Business Ethernet and networking solutions, today announced it was selected by Briggs Freeman, the oldest privately held boutique real estate firm in Dallas, to provide a full suite of networking solutions for its five Dallas Metroplex area locations.
Prior to its engagement with tw telecom, Briggs Freeman was challenged with a “one size, fits all” copper-based networking solution that impacted its business with long lags in deployment time and significant limits impacting the IT needs and requirements of the company. After consulting with Briggs Freeman, tw telecom was able to develop and build a full fiber-based networking solution that delivered the needed bandwidth, security and resiliency the company needed to manage one of the top-rated brokerage firm web sites in the country.
“Prior experience, as well as the level of expertise of the entire team, made my decision to select tw telecom as our service provider a no-brainer,” said Rocky Massey, director of information technologies, Briggs Freeman. “Our installation and conversion process with them was simple, efficient and effective, while providing a more robust solution at a 37 percent reduction in cost compared to our prior service provider. There is a reason tw telecom continues to be my service provider of choice!”
tw telecom worked closely with one of its local partners, VAZATA, a data center services company delivering hosted solutions for mission critical applications, to provide disaster recovery as a service. As part of the combined offering, VAZATA will spin up a “virtual machine” also known as an “instance” in the event of a disaster to provide a fully functioning virtual server and a secondary internet connection to ensure proper business continuity. This service will ensure all five Briggs Freeman sites remain online during a disaster instance, something not available with their previous service offering.
The solution includes a five-node Business Ethernet network complete with a 100 meg Internet connection configured for Internet business continuity/disaster recovery in conjunction with VAZATA’s Internet offering, and two Voice T-1 lines. To ensure proper security of its network, Briggs Freeman will use tw telecom‘s DDoS Scrubbing capability, a security service providing 24×7 monitoring, notification, and protection of their internet link against denial of service (DoS) attacks.
“We are pleased to partner with tw telecom to deliver this customized networking and cloud hosting solution to Briggs Freeman,” said John Greenwood, executive vice president, sales and marketing, VAZATA. “tw telecom‘s strength in Business Ethernet and voice capabilities coupled with VAZATA’s disaster recovery offering will provide Briggs Freeman with a highly secure, resilient, and scalable solution to meet their business needs now and into the future.”
“Briggs Freeman is one of the preeminent real estate brokerage firms here in Dallas,” said Will Sears, vice president and general manager, tw telecom Dallas. “We look forward to partnering with them to deliver a full-scale solution that will efficiently connect their locations across the Metroplex, provide the bandwidth needed to maintain an industry-leading web site, as well as partnering with VAZATA to supply them with a reliable and robust disaster recovery capability.”
