LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Windstream Hosted Solutions, provider of cloud and data center solutions and a part of Windstream (NYSE:WIN, news, filings), a leading provider of advanced network communications, will be conducting demonstrations of its VMware vCloud Director enabled cloud migration tool at Cloud Expo in New York City, June 10 through June 12.
The tool, launched in April in partnership with Racemi, a leading Software as a Service (SaaS) provider, enables cloud migrations using the Cloud Path self-service portal and automatically migrates existing physical and virtual servers into one of Windstream’s eight multi-tenant cloud platforms, all of which are VMware hybrid cloud enabled. Windstreamfirst conducted live Cloud Path migration demonstrations at EMC World’s recent Redefine event in Las Vegas.
“The Cloud Path solution truly opens the door to a seamless cloud migration customer experience, virtually eliminating concerns regarding downtime or potential data loss,” said Matt Preschern, Windstream’s senior vice president and enterprise chief marketing officer. “This innovative platform offers a sophisticated, market-sensitive option to our enterprise customers, supporting Windstream’s ‘smart solutions, personalized service’ brand promise.”
With more enterprise customers considering cloud solutions, one Windstream customer – SRS Pharmacy Systems in Chicago – found its recent cloud migration experience to be quick and seamless, allowing the company to migrate from existing servers to Windstream’s cloud.
“Our data migration from physical to virtual servers using Windstream’s cloud migration services was an easy process and is a good choice for physical migrations,” said Chris Karabats, IT team lead at SRS Pharmacy Systems. “The process was very ‘plug and play;’ everything went smoothly and the servers started up with all the right data on them. We were very pleased with the efficiency of the migration.”
“One of the main IT roadblocks enterprises encounter on their journeys to the cloud is how to migrate legacy workloads. Windstream’s implementation of Racemi’s Cloud Path automates and accelerates that migration,” said Al Sadowski, research director at 451 Research.
In addition to the “On-Ramp to the Cloud” demonstrations at Windstream’s booth (212), visitors will have the opportunity to speak with Windstream’s cloud experts about industry best practices for facilitating physical to virtual server and storage environment transitions.
