OnRamp Founder to Participate in Panel Discussion at Health Care Cloud Coalition (HC3)

AUSTIN, TX – OnRamp, a leading data center services provider specializing in HIPAA Compliant Hosting solutions which utilize private cloud environments on dedicated equipment, announced today that company Founder, Chad Kissinger, will be participating in a panel a discussion at the Health Care Cloud Coalition (HC3) on Thursday, June 19th from 8:30am – 12pm. HC3 was founded by Adam Greene, Partner at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, and Grant Elliot, Founder and CEO of Ostendio, with the objective of promoting transparency in relation to the storage of regulated data in the cloud. The event, which will take place in Falls Church, Virginia, will bring together representatives from the healthcare, legal and information technology industries to discuss the objectives and regulatory challenges of hosting data in the cloud.

Following a brief overview of the Health Care Cloud Coalition and introductory remarks from Founder, Adam Greene, a former key regulator at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the event will feature speaker sessions covering a variety of topics which include:

  • What is the Cloud? – Presented by: Hemant Pathak, Assistant General Counsel, Microsoft
  • The Disruptive Cloud – How the Cloud is Helping Me Drive Innovation – Presented by: Anish Sebastian, Co-Founder, 1EQ
  • The Practical Cloud – The Benefits of Using the Cloud in Enterprise Health – Presented by: Pete Celano, Director of Consumer Health Initiatives, MedStar Health

The event will conclude with a panel discussion and Q&A session moderated by Shahid Shah – President & CEO, Netspective Communications LLC, with Chad Kissinger, John Sapp – Senior Director, Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance at Oracle, Sandeep Pulim – CMIO, @Point of Care and Adam Greene.

Kissinger, whose 20 years of experience in the IT industry and leadership in the development of OnRamp’s HIPAA Compliant Hosting solutions, will provide his perspective on the issues associated with outsourcing the storage of critical healthcare data to cloud providers. “Traditionally, healthcare companies have been slow to adopt new technology or outsource the storage of their sensitive healthcare data,” stated Kissinger. “As a result, the healthcare industry, in many cases, has not been able to take advantage of the countless advances in technology. In recent times, we have been witness to a change in this sentiment. As healthcare companies begin to adopt the use of cloud technologies, the focus will turn towards evaluating the providers who help manage this function of their business, especially as it relates to HIPAA compliance requirements.”

Kissinger will emphasize the importance of working with knowledgeable IT providers that understand the law as outlined by HIPAA and HITECH and are making a concerted and well-documented effort to maintain the confidentiality, availability and integrity of protected health information in its many forms.
