Cloud-based Broadcast and Content Delivery Solution Securely and Efficiently Delivers High-quality Video Experience on a Global Scale
BROOMFIELD, Colo., June 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Level 3 Communications, Inc. (LVLT) today announced the expansion of Level 3’s Video Cloud Services, a cloud-based solution that moves, stores and delivers broadcast and Internet video on a global scale, to China through an agreement with China Telecom (NYSE: CHA, HKSE: 728) Global Limited (CTG). The agreement enables Level 3’s content customers to access China’s diverse consumer market while also allowing CTG’s content customers to distribute content and media services globally.
As consumption of Internet video continues to grow across multiple consumer devices, content companies increasingly require the efficient transfer of massive amounts of high-quality video content and data in a variety of formats. China represents one of the fastest growing markets for video consumption and production globally, and through the agreement with CTG, Level 3 is able to offer an efficient, secure and scalable approach to content distribution in the region.
Additionally, CTG will provide access to Level 3’s Video Cloud Services for its content customers who are looking to expand their own global audience base. In connection with this agreement, CDN nodes will initially be deployed in Hong Kong, with additional expansion planned across the region.
