Enterprises can test VMware-based cloud solution in proof-of-concept environment to accelerate cloud onboarding
LONDON – 19 JUNE 2014 – INTERXION HOLDING NV (NYSE:INXN, news), a leading European provider of cloud and carrier-neutral colocation data centre services, today launched a VMware vCloud-based Cloud Test Lab, managed by IT service provider CSC. Together, Interxion, CSC and VMware provide companies access to a pool of compute and storage resources to test their applications and workloads, adding speed and certainty to the cloud onboarding process.
It is difficult to determine in advance if the cloud is the right environment for certain applications and workloads. Whether a company is making a permanent migration or extending its virtual data centre, it’s difficult to predict the impact that a cloud-based environment will have on application performance. Even for companies already running workloads on virtualised infrastructure, there’s traditionally been no way to ensure the hosts they are migrating virtual machines to will suit applications.
Interxion’s Cloud Test Lab lets enterprises test their workloads and applications in an industry-leading environment before they begin the actual onboarding process. The free-of-charge testing environment offers enterprises access to robust and secure cloud technology from VMware vCloud and the opportunity to develop risk-free testing and integration scenarios. Enterprises also have access to a range of connectivity solutions within Interxion’s Vienna data centre, including 100 connectivity providers and ISPs, as well as skilled technicians for on-site support.
The hardware, software and connectivity collaboration between Interxion, VMware and CSC produces more realistic testing results than enterprises would gain from setting up a test cloud environment on local hardware. Once testing demonstrates the feasibility of the new cloud environment, enterprises can instantly onboard their applications and workloads directly to CSC’s live cloud via the Interxion Cloud Hub, a community of hosting, infrastructure providers, hyper scale platforms, software providers and networks.
“The actual transition to a cloud-based environment can be fraught with complexity and requires upfront planning, rather than rushed migration,” said Jelle Frank van der Zwet, Interxion’s Cloud Marketing Manager. “Interxion is making companies’ onboarding process worry-free by letting them experience the benefits of the cloud with the option to quickly scale into a fully-functioning production environment.”
“The cloud offers undeniable business benefits and our customers are looking to accelerate their onboarding process,” said Alexander Spörker, Country Manager VMware Austria. “As the global leader in cloud and virtualisation software, we are proud to work with Interxion and provide customers a scalable and secure environment to help them test how applications and services perform in the cloud for more effective migration.”
