BTI Systems Adds Tim Pillow as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales

Telco and Networking Industry Veteran Joins in Newly Created Role as Company Builds on Record Sales and Revenues

OTTAWA and BOSTON – June 3, 2014

BTI Systems, an award-winning provider of cloud and metro networking software and systems to content and service providers around the world, today named Tim Pillow as senior vice president of worldwide sales. The announcement follows the recent appointment of Colin Doherty as president and CEO and underscores the company’s accelerating growth and momentum.

In his role at BTI, Pillow will be responsible for defining and implementing global sales and channel development strategies. This includes new customer acquisition, adding to the roster of top-tier global account wins and expanding key partnerships while ensuring that BTI’s 380+ customers continue to enjoy best-in-class products and services.

Pillow brings to his new position more than 25 years of executive-level experience earned while leading domestic and international sales organizations at high-growth companies and established market leaders that include Nortel Networks, Westell Technologies, OFS Fitel and Lucent Technologies. He most recently served as senior vice president of global sales for MRV Communications.

“BTI’s vision for how content and service providers would need to re-architect their networks to monetize the explosive demand for cloud services, mobility and video content is exactly right,” Pillow said. “So, too, are the solutions we’re delivering to fuel a scalable, reliable and cost-effective transition. I’m thrilled to join the company and help build on what’s already a tremendous executive team, board, customer base and partner network.”

On the heels of recording its best quarterly bookings in company history, BTI is experiencing strong growth and momentum, with compound annual revenue growth of 33 percent from 2007 – 2013 and more than 40 percent of revenues coming from top-tier content, colocation and service providers. In December, the company closed a $27 million financing round, bringing to $60 million the amount of growth capital it has raised since 2011. Investors include Bain Capital Ventures, BDC, Covington Capital, GrowthWorks and additional strategic investors.

“Great companies pair insight into market shifts with disruptive products, and then consistently deliver unmatched solutions which are cost-effective, standards-based, quickly deployed and add real business value,” Doherty said. “As a hands-on, global operating executive with deep knowledge in our sector, Tim’s a proven sales leader known for driving accelerated company growth. We’re excited he’s bringing that mindset to BTI.”

In 2013, BTI marked an industry first with the announcement of Intelligent Cloud Connect, an open Software Defined Networking (SDN)-enabled converged networking platform now in deployment in cloud and metro networks around the world. Intelligent Cloud Connect uniquely integrates routing and optical scale with Network Functions Virtualization (NFV)-based applications and analytics software to allow content, colocation and service providers to scale new cloud services rapidly and cost effectively while simplifying operations and management.
