Vuetel Italia Outsources Africa and European Networks to Epsilon

Epsilon delivers international connectivity to North, West and Central Africa for leading Italian voice and data service provider

Singapore – May 21, 2014 – Epsilon, a privately owned global communications service provider, has been selected by Vuetel Italia, a leading provider of Italy-Africa voice and data services, for the delivery of international networks in Europe and Africa. Vuetel uses SDH, Ethernet, IP, VoIP, and colocation services provided by Epsilon to connect its customers to more than 10 African countries. The voice and data provider has points of presence (POPs) in Epsilon Global Hubs in London and Paris Equinix, which gives them access to Epsilon’s more than 500 preconnected network operators.

Headquartered in Perugia, Italy, Vuetel Italia offers carrier services connecting Italy to Tunisia, Algeria, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Benin, Nigeria, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Angola. It has network operations centres (NOCs) in Perugia, Tunisia, Benin and Burkina Faso.

“The rapid growth of the telecoms sector in Africa has meant more international operators need efficient access to local connectivity. That is why we have focused on developing our relationships in a diverse set of African markets and have been able to help Vuetel to grow its business and connect more customers across the continent,” says Clint Collins, Regional Director, Carrier Business MEA at Epsilon. “Our outsourcing model perfectly matches the needs of the African market.”

Epsilon has interconnection agreements with both the West Africa Cable System (WACS) on the west coast of Africa as well as SEACOM on the east coast. Its undersea cable presence circumnavigates Africa giving it access to Africa’s leading telecoms markets.

“Epsilon understood our needs and offered us a future-proof solution that can manage the growth in Africa we anticipate over the next five years. They have the reach, relationships and experience in Africa to support our business,” says Emanuela Bevilacqua, Chief Technical Officer at Vuetel Italia. “Our strategic presence in the Mediterranean and in geographically diverse markets across Africa meant we needed a unique networking solution and Epsilon was able to deliver an outsourced solution that helps us to capture more business and grow margin.”

Vuetel has plans to launch retail services in the Middle East and Africa with local partners and serve existing retail customers with its international infrastructure.
