Thieves beware: Secure Source USA and Sprint have their eye on you

The experts said it couldn’t be done but innovative business owner Jay Leonard and an outstanding team from Sprint thought otherwise.

Several years ago, Leonard, managing partner and founder of Secure Source USA, wanted to improve his company’s method of providing around-the-clock security and safety at large construction and mining sites.

Using security personnel positioned at guard posts was costly, limited and made trespassing predictable for thieves. Plus, the forensics results were subpar when relying on a guard’s recollection about an alleged crime that was committed in the wee hours of the night or morning.

“I wanted to modernize my surveillance with cameras and up-to-the-minute alerts on a reliable wireless network,” Leonard said. “My competitors and other experts in the same field said it couldn’t be done.”

Leonard, who takes great pride in using the most up to date technology when securing clients, began talks with Sprint sales reps and solutions engineers in 2007. After occasional “trials” and “honeymoon periods” with each technology upgrade, Sprint mobile broadband cards are today powering about 250, 100 percent solar powered and environmentally friendly  Mobile Solar Camera Units  at more than 100 sites covering nearly 2,500 acres in Arizona, Nevada, California, Utah and Alaska.

As a company that values the benefits of renewable energy and has set a goal to secure 10 percent of its own energy for renewable sources by 2017, Sprint is proud to enable the solution for Secure Source.

Secure Source differentiates itself from the competition with an impressive high tech command center in El Mirage, Ariz. and offers live, high-quality, 24/7 remote monitoring of its camera systems at the sites, all powered by the Sprint 3G wireless network.

The quantifiable cost savings with the camera monitoring system is enough to show any construction or mining company an ample return on investment.

“It’s an 18-to-1 tradeoff for my company,” Leonard said. “This means, on average, that a site can have up to 18 cameras pointed in every direction for the cost of one security guard.”

The partnership between Secure Source and Sprint has flourished over the years. Leonard gives high marks to network performance, attention to detail of the Sprint Care team, and the very solid business relationship he has with Account Manager Ryan Tharp.
“Without Sprint, we don’t have a company,” Leonard said.

If you’re a business owner or you know a business owner that would like to talk more about installing a wireless surveillance system at a construction site or any site, don’t hesitate to contact Tharp at ryan.tharp@sprint.com.
