TeliaSonera International Carrier Continues North American Expansion – Bolsters Dallas Metro Network Footprint

New Dallas Points of Presence Expand International Reach to Latin America While Meeting Growing Demand for Premium Connectivity throughout Southern Texas

TeliaSonera International Carrier (TSIC) is expanding its high-capacity transport capabilities and increasing global-local connectivity to and from Mexico as well as major South American communications hubs with new Points of Presence (PoPs) throughout metropolitan and suburban Dallas, TX.

In addition to being the fourth-largest metropolitan service area in the U.S., Dallas serves as a major Internet and peering exchange point as well as a critical communications hub for the Southern United States. Its geographic proximity to the region, compounded further by robust network interconnectivity, make the city a major gateway to Latin America, including Mexico – the third-largest destination for telecommunications traffic from the U.S.

Ivo Pascucci, Regional Director, Americas for TeliaSonera International Carrier, says, “Our Dallas PoPs serve as strategic termination and connectivity points on a critical route for customers in Mexico and South America as well as the greater Dallas metro area. In addition to international growth driven by the Mexican market, we see a lot of opportunity in South Texas and are excited to expand our metro presence and diverse fiber routes throughout the state”.

TSIC is overhauling its existing Dallas metro network to expand customer access to and from commercial centers in Southern Texas as well as internationally. This includes the addition of ‘supercore’ network architecture at its existing 1950 North Stemmons Freeway and new 2323 Bryan Street, Dallas, TX hubs, as well as providing direct connectivity to the region’s key managed hosting wholesale infrastructure sites and database facilities in Carrollton, TX, Richardson, TX and at 400 South Akard Street in Dallas. TSIC’s latest network expansion will provide broader network coverage, superior performance and cost-effective, resilient connectivity to address international traffic growth from Mexico as well as growing content delivery, big compute and data storage demands of customers in the gaming, content, social media and cloud computing verticals.

Art Kazmierczak, Director of Business and Network Development of The Americas for TeliaSonera International Carrier, adds,
“Expanding the reach of our North American network by establishing additional PoPs across the Dallas metro footprint allows us to more cost-effectively and reliably deliver 100G services to a broader base of wholesale customers.”

Ranked one of the top two global IP backbone providers by Internet intelligence authority Renesys, TSIC owns and operates its 100G-enabled, award-winning fiber network, with over 200 PoPs worldwide and undergoing continuous network expansion. On the heels of its new Boca Raton PoP in March, the development of the Dallas metro footprint further strengthens its global backbone and upholds its commitment to providing reliable, always-on connectivity anywhere.
