Sprint is rolling out the latest version of Android™ to Samsung Galaxy S® III customers with an over-the-air (OTA) update. Galaxy S III customers should have the update in the next few weeks.
The update provides a number of innovative, easy-to-use features that enhance the Samsung Galaxy user experience, including a more intuitive user interface, enhanced messaging capabilities and updated applications:
- Location Menu: An integrated location menu enables users to easily activate GPS, Wi-Fi and mobile networks, while simultaneously checking the battery usage of apps running location service capabilities.
- Enhanced Messaging: Hangouts now includes SMS and MMS and a larger assortment of updated Emoji icons.
- Upgraded Google Mobile Service™ (GMS) apps: Users can automatically back up photos and video and can open, view, rename and share Google Docs and files.
- Updated Lock Screen Features: The lock screen now allows users to quickly access the camera with a new shortcut and view album art while music is playing.
Additionally, Sprint plans to update Samsung Galaxy Note® II, Samsung Galaxy S® 4 mini™, Samsung Galaxy Mega® and Samsung Galaxy Tab® 3 7.0 to KitKat. Exact timing of these updates will be shared at a later date. The Android 4.4.2, KitKat, update for Samsung Galaxy S® 4 (released Feb. 13) and Samsung Galaxy Note® 3 (released Feb. 20) should be complete for Sprint customers.
