Range of Level 3 Network Solutions to Help Improve Operational Performance of One of Argentina’s Major Oil and Gas Companies

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, May 7, 2014 Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings), today announced an agreement with AXION energy, one of the major energy companies in Argentina. Under the agreement, AXION energy is entrusting Level 3 with its video, voice and data communications capabilities and the connection of its headquarters to subsidiaries, distribution centers, production refineries and data centers in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. Level 3’s network services will also help enhance the efficiency, reliability and security of AXION’s core operations applications to better support its businesses in the countries where it operates.

Due to its extensive market operations, AXION energy requires the ability to unify its communications systems and applications across more than 23 diverse regional locations. By using Level 3’s IP VPN (Internet protocol virtual private network) solution, AXION energy will be able to simplify its connectivity and improve the performance of its organizational operations. AXION energy will also be able to manage its regional network parameters in real time and gather information for future network bandwidth assessments.

Additionally, AXION energy required advanced network collaboration solutions for its employees and will use Level 3’s IP collaboration and voice services to increase the effectiveness of its voice communication processes in regional sites. Furthermore, Level 3’s Ready-Access audio conferencing service will allow fast and easy connections with geographically dispersed employees, customers, partners and vendors, providing users with complete access to services such as security, accessibility, session-recording facilities and other useful functionalities.
