Level 3 Awarded ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 Certification in Latin America

Certification Demonstrates Level 3’s Continued Dedication to Ensuring Excellence in IT Service Management

Apr 14, 2014

BUENOS AIRES, April 14, 2014 – Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) today announced that its subsidiary, Level 3 Argentina S.A., has been awarded ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 Certification for Level 3’s Advanced Security Testing (AST) services in eight countries where the company has operations.

The ISO/IEC 20000 is a global standard for IT service management systems. The certification demonstrates Level 3’s excellence and proven practices in IT management with respect to its AST services, as well as its ability to perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testings in connection with its AST services. The certification provides evidence-based benchmarks for the company to continuously improve its delivery of AST services in its Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela and United States operations.

“Being awarded the ISO/IEC 20000 for our AST services is a great accomplishment for Level 3 given that very few certifications have been awarded in all of Latin America,” said Leonardo Barbero, senior vice president and CMO for Level 3 in Latin America. “It represents just one of the many steps we are taking to continually improve our delivery of IT management and advanced network services to our customers.”

Granted for a period of three years, Level 3’s certificate was approved after an extensive review conducted by TÜV Rheinland, a provider of technical, safety and certification services and DAKKS, an independent accreditation body. The ISO/IEC 20000 was released in 2005 based on the IT infrastructure library (ITIL) best practice framework and updated in 2011.
