Zayo Group Supports Colorado’s Young Leaders as a Sponsor of Greenhouse Scholars’ Event

BOULDER, Colo.–March 24, 2014–Global Bandwidth Infrastructure services provider Zayo Group, LLC (“Zayo”), today announced its sponsorship of the annual Glass Half Full Wine Tasting & Auction to be held on April 10, 2014 at Denver’s McNichols Civic Center Building. The celebratory evening is presented by Greenhouse Scholars, a non-profit organization that supports, inspires and drives extraordinary yet under-resourced college students to become community leaders, changing the trajectory of lives and communities around the globe. All proceeds raised through the event will directly support the Scholars from Colorado.

“Supporting Colorado educational programs like Greenhouse Scholars is important to Zayo,” says Dan Caruso, chairman and CEO of Zayo. “"In addition to the event sponsorship, we support Greenhouse Scholars through our employees who have volunteered to review Scholar grant applications for independent projects, help select the new class of Scholars, and as a company we have hosted Scholars at our headquarters for day of learning. We look forward to working with other Front Range companies to develop and nurture local talent."

Glass Half Full, one of Denver’s top annual charitable events, will feature food from local restaurants including TAG, Sushi Hai, Root Down, Linger, and Pinche Taqueria. The Infinite Monkey Theorem, Breckenridge Distillery, Leopold Bros., and Roundhouse Spirits will provide wine and spirits. The evening also includes a world-class auction and inspiring stories from students in the Greenhouse Scholars program.

“We are extremely thankful for Zayo’s support as a sponsor of Glass Half Full,” said Pete Burridge, president and chief executive officer, Greenhouse Scholars. “Because of their sponsorship, Zayo is making it possible for us to identify a new generation of community leaders through taking extraordinary but under-resourced college students, and inspiring, supporting, and driving them to change the trajectory of their families, their communities, and communities around the globe.”

About Greenhouse Scholars

Founded in 2005, Greenhouse Scholars is a Colorado-based non-profit providing comprehensive support for high-performing and under-resourced students from Colorado and Illinois. Through its "Whole Person" approach of intellectual, academic, financial and professional support, Greenhouse Scholars is committed to cultivating the next generation of community leaders.

Becoming a Greenhouse Scholar is a highly selective process. These students are from the most under-resourced communities: 72 percent of Scholars are the first in their families to attend college, and 40 percent of their families live below the poverty line. Yet they demonstrate extraordinary potential and make giving back to the community a priority: 71 percent of Scholars lead an organization on campus, 55 percent have founded an organization, event or club and more than 2,000 middle and high school students have been mentored by Scholars to date. Since 2005, Greenhouse Scholars has served nearly 120 students.
