BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Zayo Group, LLC (“Zayo”), an international provider of Bandwidth Infrastructure, today announced a network expansion in the Kansas City, Missouri, market. The expansion includes a 16.6-mile dark fiber ring in North Kansas City, referred to locally as “Northland.”
The newly covered region will complement Zayo’s existing fiber in the Kansas City central business district and Overland Park. The new fiber route crosses the Missouri River twice in a ring configuration, enabling redundant connectivity from Northland into downtown Kansas City. Customers in the region can now access dark and lit fiber services across Zayo’s 100 fiber route mile network.
The six-month-long project was completed in December 2013. This is Zayo’s first fiber build in the Northland area, which is home to company headquarters and manufacturing centers such as Harley Davidson and Ford Motor Company Plant, and data centers.
“Extending our presence into Northland provides more connectivity options for new and existing customers in an area that has had limited access to our network,” says Zach Nebergall, vice president of metro dark fiber services. “Zayo can now meet the explosive demands of Northland data centers and provide dark and lit services to this important manufacturing center.”
